The Swordfish Festival of Acitrezza is a thirty-year event that takes place on the occasion of the feast of the patron saint of the municipality in the province of Catania and celebrates swordfish as a symbol of the economy of the place, with tasting shows and stands of typical products.
Annually in June during the celebrations in honor of St. John the Baptist, in the small fishing village of Acitrezza swordfish is grilled, fished from the “spadare” of the place. At the airport of Alaggio large grids are set up where professional cooks serve grilled swordfish seasoned with oil, oregano, salt and lemon for visitors. Together with the main course of the festival, it is possible to taste homemade bread and local wine.

The Swordfish Festival will take place in Acitrezza from 7 to 9 June and from 12 to 14 July starting at 8.00 pm
