Between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Acireale nobles built their residences in Corso Umberto; Nicolosi Palace is one of them.
The palace was built after the earthquake of 1693 at the behest of brothers Don Joseph and Don Pietro Paolo Nicolosi. The current structure dates back to the restructuring, in late Baroque style, made following the enlargement of today’s Corso Umberto. This led to the need for structural changes in the palace, in fact, the front was moved rearward, the third floor and a large staircase in the garden were built.
The main entrance overlooking the Corso Umberto is surmounted by the emblem of the family Nicolosi.
To the careful eye of the visitor stands out the baroque style of the building. The third floor, in particular, added with the restructuring carried out by architect M. Panebianco, is characterized by Baroque elements, columns, decorations, arches and the beautifully decorated balustrade.
